Running Dates

A DMU operates on about 30 days throughout the year at the Midland Railway Centre. Regular DMU appearances can be found at Thomas the Tank events and we do hold an annual DMU Gala which sees as many of the home fleet operating as possible.

A DMU is usually available for traffic at all times and so can be called upon if the rostered motive power is not available for whatever reason. Running dates are usually advised with very little notice to owners/operators and priority has to be to roster crews/arrange exams and fueling of units. This normally leaves us little time to advertise our running dates separately. Please check with the railway directly for enquiries regarding running days.

We do however advertise our DMU Gala well in advance and is well worth a visit. A Real Ale bar, inclusive services operated by a varied fleet and fish and chips specials running in the evening.

29 & 30 March - DMU Gala event
17 & 18 May - Class 114 running as part of the 1960’s weekend.
24 May to 01 June - Class 127 running as Daisy the DMU as part of the 9 day Thomas event.
12 & 13 July - Class 127 running to commemorate 25 years since withdrawal from passenger service
